Val Silidker

has a MS in Environmental Studies from Florida International University with a focus on deep ecology, education and ethics, and is the founder of The Voice of the Earth. She is also co-founder of Expand the Love (www.ExpandTheLove.com) and Vice President of Rattle the Cage Productions (www.RattletheCage.org), a non-profit organization that creates investigative documentaries concerning environmental issues, including the award-winning film, Lolita: Slave to Entertainment. Over the past decade, she has been active in community organization, environmental education, producing and hosting events and workshops, and speaking on environmental ethics, living systems, and deep ecology at national conferences, festivals, for environmental groups and various universities.

Along with her involvement as a community leader, Val has worked in Big Cypress National Preserve as an environmental educator, in New Mexico reforesting Ponderosa Pine trees on the Apache Reservation, and completed the Florida Master Naturalist Program through the University of Florida. She has studied humane education with the International Institute for Humane Education and has had the honor of working with John Seed, deep ecologist and founder of the Rainforest Information Centre in Australia, as well as systems scholar and eco-philosopher Joanna Macy. Val also spent the summer of 2009 studying Cosmology and The Universe Story at Genesis Farm with Miriam MacGillis.

Val currently teaches ecology at FIU and has been teaching Sivananda yoga for many years, sharing the gifts of breath, meditation and asana. She has been a licensed massage therapist for over 15 years, specializing in neuromuscular therapy, deep healing techniques and herbalism. She spends time connecting, deepening and strengthening her relationship with Nature, and traveling to explore the many beautiful sacred places on this Earth. She is also a musician and performs with Song of the Soul, a fusion project with Jaime Triana of Here II Here and Eric Dez of PHIsonica, which combines a hypnotic blend of delicate and soulful harmonies with guitar, ethnic percussion and world instruments woven inside ambient electronic music.

Contact Val for private yoga sessions, massage and bodywork, speaking engagements or as an event host/MC. Val@TheVoiceoftheEarth.com
